Great restoration takes time
We have been restoring and redeveloping old banking buildings into the new the Taj Cape Town’s premises for over three years. It has been a remarkable journey for us and for the very patient city of Cape Town.

In our development efforts we have worked tirelessly to ensure that the key original elements, of each landmark property, have remained unchanged.

Taj Cape Town Introductory Offer

We have put together a series of spectacular Taj Cape Town introductory offers to coincide with our opening in January 2010.

This month we’ll be highlighting the Taj Cape Town’s Stay of 3 Pay for 2 introductory offer.

The Stay for 3 Pay for 2 offer includes accommodation, at the Taj Cape Town, for three nights but costs the equivalent of a two-night stay.

Visit the Taj Cape Town and experience everything it and the Cape Town city centre has to offer.
The Taj Cape Town
and its people

The Taj Cape Town is not just about its beautiful and historic Cape Town city centre location, or its internationally renowned five star luxury; it’s also about its people.

The External Façade

All the scaffolding, on the St Georges Mall Pedestrian Crossing side of the Taj Cape Town, has been removed. Passersby can now clearly see the exceptionally restored old Reserve Bank building façade. From this angle, of the Taj Cape Town, visitors get the opportunity to see how the modern additions, to these landmark properties, add to the overall architectural experience. It is absolutely breathtaking!
The original Reserve Bank Hall

The original Reserve Bank hall has been beautifully restored. Last month the hall’s famous marble pillars were wrapped up in protective sponge and the hall itself was a sea of builders and building dust. This month the original Reserve Bank hall is nearing completion. The cocktail bar and cigar lounge – just off the hall – look almost ready for opening.

This section of the Taj Cape Town appears, for the first time in this restoration and development process, more impressive than the artist impressions.
The Taj Cape Town Restaurants

Both the Bombay Brasserie, the Taj Cape Town’s fine dining Indian restaurant; and Mint, the Taj Cape Town’s more casual all-day dining restaurant, have started to take shape.
