The Lobby Lounge at the Taj Cape Town

The Lobby Lounge of the resplendent Taj Cape Town hotel is situated in the old South African Reserve Bank building in the heart of the Mother City. Richly detailed with many beautiful spaces, the Lobby still retains many of the original features, including its magnificent marble pillars, ornate balconies and the anatomically correct lion medallions pressed into the ceilings.

Open to the public, the Lobby Lounge is the ideal venue to enjoy refreshments or a light meal in an atmosphere of casual sophistication and the undeniable grandeur of days gone by. Guests are also welcome to simply relax with the daily broadsheets and sip one of the 20 fine loose-leaf teas from around the world on offer.

The tempting menu includes many delicious options from pepper seared salmon carpaccio with beetroot and goat’s cheese, grilled chicken Caesar salad and a classic club sandwich to the trademark Angus burger with smoked bacon, avocado and cheddar. Those with a sweet tooth will love the Madagascar vanilla cheesecake or the delectable warm chocolate fondant.

Also housed in the Lobby Lounge is a superb cocktail bar with a wide range of cocktails and premium spirits and a cigar lounge with a fine selection of Cuban cigars, cognacs, liqueurs and spirits. A concert-sized Grand Piano enjoys centre stage during occasional live music events.
