The Waterfront Wine Affair 2011 is a chance to enjoy fine wine, great views and delicious food. The festival, held alongside the water at the V&A Waterfront, is a reminder of why Cape Town is a top destination for foodies from throughout South Africa and around the world.
Cape Town’s wine festivals provide a chance to sample the wares of the region’s most famous wine producers, as well as opportunities to discover newer estates and wines. The Waterfront Wine Affair is the perfect place to taste a variety of wines and appreciate the Cape’s regional differences. Even better, the wine festival features a carefully selected menu, comprising dishes from a number of the V&A Waterfront’s fine restaurants chosen to pair beautifully with the wines on offer.
This year’s Waterfront Wine Affair takes place from 3 to 6 May 2011 and visitors will enjoy a number of gourmet exhibitors, including cheese from La Petite France, famous for their farm-made Camembert, and other traditional imported French products. Organic Kalamata olives from the Waverley Hills olive groves will also be available.
With wine estates such as Groot Constantia, De Krans and Haskell Vineyards in attendance the Waterfront Wine Affair is sure to be gastronomic delight for all. Tickets for the event can be purchased from Computicket and include wine and deli tastings, a tasting glass and a brochure. Specialized food items and wine will also be on sale for post-festival delivery.
Pairing wine with food is a valuable way to discover enjoyable new flavour combinations. Continue your culinary journey at the Taj Cape Town, home to the Bombay Brasserie, which serves some of the finest Indian cuisine found outside of India, paired with expertly chosen fine South African Wines.
