This Valentine’s Day, the Taj Cape Town has prepared the ultimate romantic gesture:  an exotic his and hers spa treatment, drinks and oysters at the historic Twankey Champagne and Oyster Bar, a sumptuous dinner at Cape Town’s finest Indian restaurant and a romantic night in the heart of the mother city.

Begin your Valentine’s Day at the fabulous Jiva Spa by unwinding in the steam room and jacuzzi. Select an hour-long aromatherapy massage, to relax and energise you and your loved one for the night ahead, and enjoy a candle-lit rose petal bath, including Moet & Chandon champagne.

Before whisking your partner off for dinner, stop by the Twankey champagne and oyster bar to tantalise your taste buds with a Twankey Teaser.

This compromises three of different kinds of oysters paired with three deliciously different accompaniments – Big Bay Oysters with Genevieve MCC, Namibian Oysters with a Bloody Mary and finally Wild Oysters with Guinness draught.

Following the Twankey, the sophisticated luxury of the Bombay Brasserie will form the perfect setting for an unforgettably romantic Valentine’s Day dinner. Enjoy a complimentary glass of Palmer Champagne before being shown to your table where executive chef Shyam Longani’s combination of flavour, texture and spices will take you on a culinary journey through India. Each sumptuous dish is paired with exquisite Western Cape Wines.

Alternatively, enjoy a relaxed and intimate evening at the Mint Restaurant. The chef’s A La Carte menu, featuring delicacies including local and international grills, will be on offer alongside a wide selection of fine wines, Cap Classique and Champagne. Your meal will be accompanied by the sultry sounds of a jazz duo to set the romantic mood.

For the ultimate Valentine’s treat, what could be more romantic than spending the night at a luxury five star hotel in the historic heart of one of the world’s most beautiful cities? The Taj Cape Town will be offering special Valentine’s rates on accommodation, with a gourmet breakfast included.

The Taj Cape Town provides luxury accommodation in Cape Town and has made all of these Valentine’s Day offers available from the 11th until the 14th of February. Also, if you book before the 5th of February you could win a spa treatment consisting of an exquisite Champi head massage for you and your partner on the day of your reservation.

Cape Town residents have long believed that their city hosts some of the finest beaches in the world; a belief that has been confirmed by the awarding of prestigious Blue Flag status to six Cape Town beaches.

The Blue Flag Programme is an international beach rating programme employing stringent criteria, including water purity and environmental management.

The awarding of Blue Flag status to a number of Cape Town beaches indicates that the city’s coast is not only spectacularly beautiful, but also safe, clean and environmentally well-managed.

Blue Flag status also indicates that the beaches have sufficient lifeguards and lifesaving equipment, as well as other security arrangements in place, as well as access to amenities such as drinking water.

Cape Town beaches that have been recognised by the Blue Flag Programme include glamorous Camps Bay and Clifton Fourth Beach, both renowned for silky white sand and spectacular scenery.

Both these beaches are located close to some of Cape Town’s most vibrant bars and restaurants, making them perfect for a day of fun in the sun, followed by cocktails.

Many Capetonians who put a premium on quality bathing enjoy spending time at Blue Flag-accredit Muizenberg, where the water is warmer and the waves of more vigorous. Muizenberg is a really family-friendly beach and is a great destination for an active day of beach bats and other seaside activities.

Blue Flag status is a good indication of the quality of a beach’s facilities, and of its environmental record, but it, of course, is no guarantee that a beach will have that indefinable quality that puts certain locations apart. To appreciate what makes Cape Town’s beaches so special, and what keeps overseas and local tourists coming back again and again, you will have to visit them yourself.

Guest of the Taj Cape Town can request transport to any of the city’s fine beaches in one of the hotel’s luxury vehicles.

The Taj Cape Town provides luxury accommodation in Cape Town conveniently located in the centre of town. After a day of fun and sun visitors can recuperate at the deluxe Jiva Spa before enjoying the city’s famous cultural attractions and nightlife.
