Hemant Oberoi, worldwide executive chef of the Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces – and one of India’s most influential food related exports – recently joined us at the Taj Cape Town to oversee the final stages before our three restaurants were opened officially to the public.

While the busy Chef Oberoi was in town he made time to wine, dine and entertain a handful of delighted journalists. Among those in attendance were Fairlady and Once Bitten; you can read more about their experiences and thoughts, regarding the Taj Cape Town and Hermant Oberoi, here and here.

The Taj Cape Town Open Days, which took place from Monday the 18th of January to Thursday the 21st of January, gave us the opportunity to formally introduce the remarkable Taj Cape Town to both journalists and members of the general public.

We believe that the Taj Cape Town is, in itself, a destination. For us to effectively share this destination concept with our open day guests we made use of a Taj Cape Town passport.

In this passport each significant element of the Taj Cape Town was displayed as a unique destination where, after visiting, the journalists and members of the public had the relevant page of their Taj Cape Town passport stamped enabling them to proceed to the next unique destination.

Unique Taj Cape Town destinations included: the Banking Hall, Mint, the Bombay Brasserie, the Twankey Bar, the Jiva Grande Spa, the Meeting and Business Wing, the Taj Club, Health and Fitness, the Heritage Rooms, the Tower Rooms and the Presidential Suite.

If you’d like to read more about what has been written about the open days you’ll find links to the relevant articles here.
